101 in 1001 Goal Setting

If you are an OG follower from my CrystalCattle blogging days you might remember my 101 in 1001 lists. It was something I did twice publicly and then a third time I put a twist on it. Recently, I had actually been thinking about the third go round. I grabbed a hand pie and chai tea, grabbed a journal and headed to our park. There I say writing out 100 goals. My heart has been pulling at opening up that journal, but honestly I wasn’t sure what I would find inside.

My original 101 in 1001 process started more than 14 years ago. I wrote out 101 goals that you want to accomplish in 1001 days and started them publicly on the blog. My goals ranged from going to church every month to 12 months, to picking peaches, to falling in love, travel, selling one of my livestock photographs.

Part of my 2019 goal list.

Fast forward to 2019, I decided on a bit of a different process. I still wrote out 101 goals but I didn’t give myself a timeline. Instead, after I wrote out all the goals I looked for category patterns. It was interesting to see that the majority of my goals fell into travel and taking better care of myself. However, entrepreneurship and finances were also something I could tell were really important to me. There was a strong theme of wanting to be involved in our local community. There were also a lot of mentions about our old house and farm - neither of which are in the picture today.

I hadn’t opened up that journal until today - four years after I wrote those goals. Forty-three were accomplished, three I am giving myself an accomplished-ish, and 52 were a no. Interestingly enough 19 of the goals that weren’t accomplished aren’t important to me anymore or are no longer applicable.

With the last quarter of 2023 approaching and some beautiful days in the forecast it looks like I’ll be headed back to the park again.
